Talk or Not
My daughters are encouraging me to find a therapist to help me deal with the changes in my life. And to be clear I am in no way opposed to the idea of therapy. I've been to therapy in the past and honestly I loved it. I am a person that clarifies how I feel through writing and talking. I come to this genetically. My mom was a "world class" debater. Born in 2025 instead of 1925 she would have grown up to be a famous lawyer. I am not that brilliant, but I do find verbal thinking to be my path to clarifying my jumbled, troubled, or problemed mind. So, a solid 45 minutes a week with a person dedicated to just listening to me talk about my problems is not a bad fit. Throw in the fact that this person is not going to tell you that your thoughts, feelings, or POV are wrong unless you're looking to hurt someone and how bad could it be?
